Reading costs / a clear plan before you connect
You can value spiritual guidance and still want a clear price. Whether you are drawn to tarot, intuitive insight or a conversation about a relationship, a reading budget should give you room to listen, not pressure to keep paying.
A higher price does not prove greater psychic accuracy, and a lower one does not establish inexperience. A reader’s style may resonate with you without every interpretation being right. Your spiritual interest does not need a bigger price tag to be sincere.

The examples below show why one headline cannot tell you what all readings cost. Amounts are in US dollars. Offers, reader availability and account eligibility can change; the terms shown before you pay are the ones to check.
- PsychicOz
-
Selected PsychicOz profiles displayed US$0.99 per minute and US$4.99 per email reading. These are displayed examples, not a promise that every reader or format will have the same rate.
Check the chosen profile, what an email response includes and any new-customer restrictions. A written fee and a minute rate buy different services.
- California Psychics
-
The California Psychics pricing page listed US$5–US$23 per minute and 15 free minutes with a five-minute purchase requirement.
The selected reader’s rate and applicable offer determine your purchase. Free minutes do not necessarily mean no payment is required.
- Psychic Source
-
The Psychic Source pricing page described a first-purchase offer as low as US$1 per minute and regular rates starting at US$0.99, depending on reader and format. A separate banner advertised another one-time offer.
Do not combine different promotions or assume the lowest starting rate applies to your chosen advisor. Confirm both the purchase amount and subsequent reading rate.
- Keen
-
Keen’s Call Details guidance says the listing price includes its per-minute platform fee, which can vary with location. Adding that same included fee again would overstate the bill.
Use the rate displayed for your account and reader. Ask how billed time is counted and whether anything is charged separately.
For differences between live and written formats, our PsychicOz, Keen and Kasamba comparison helps you compare the service as well as the price.
Turn a minute rate into a spending limit
A minute rate becomes easier to judge when you put a duration beside it. The same rate can be comfortable for a focused question and too much for a longer conversation.
| Minute rate | 10 billed minutes | 20 billed minutes |
|---|---|---|
| US$2 | US$20 | US$40 |
| US$5 | US$50 | US$100 |
| US$10 | US$100 | US$200 |
Basic calculation: applicable minute rate × billed minutes + charges not already included in that rate. If a promotion ends during the session, calculate the introductory and regular-rate portions separately. Ask the provider how that transition works before starting.
Your provider’s billing increment matters. Ask what happens to a partial minute, when paid time begins and how a dropped connection is handled. A personal timer can remind you to wrap up, but it is not a guaranteed cutoff in the provider’s billing system.
Keep account funding separate from session cost
If you add US$40 to an account and the reading uses US$24, you may have US$16 remaining. Your payment method was still charged US$40. Check whether unused credit expires, is restricted or can be refunded; do not assume it is automatically returned as cash.
If you would rather compare overall value than minute rates alone, read our guide to value across psychic websites.
Pay for a defined experience, not an open-ended promise
Before choosing the length, decide what you hope to explore. You might want to reflect on a relationship pattern through tarot, talk through a transition with an intuitive reader or receive one written answer to revisit quietly. Those preferences help you choose a format without buying more time by default.
A useful opening: “I’d like to explore one relationship question. I have a ten-minute limit; can we leave a moment at the end to sum up?”
You can be open to impressions and still ask for an explanation, disagree or end the session. For preparation that keeps your question focused, use our reading preparation guide.
Live conversation
Confirm when the timer begins, whether typing or pauses are billed, and whether the reader can work with your planned time. A low minute rate is not necessarily a lower total if the conversation takes longer.
Written response or fixed appointment
Ask about included questions, response timing, appointment length, clarification and rescheduling. A fixed price can make the total clearer, but it does not make an email reply equivalent to a live session.
A reader may price for their time, demand, specialty or service structure. Do not infer training or a proven ability from the fee alone. Our quality reading checklist covers communication, privacy and boundaries beyond price.
Five checks before you pay
- Currency and final total. Check the currency, any separate tax or fee, and the amount charged today. If your payment provider converts currencies, check its rate and charges too.
- Offer limits. Confirm first-customer eligibility, required purchases, qualifying readers, usable formats and the rate after the offer ends. Save the actual terms rather than relying on a banner.
- Credit and packages. Check minimum top-ups, expiry, unused balances and any automatic renewal. A package is useful only if you want its scope and can afford the full purchase.
- Stopping and cancellation. Know how to end a live session and what happens if an appointment is shortened, cancelled or missed. Ask support in writing when a rule is unclear.
- Satisfaction and refunds. Find the reporting deadline, eligibility and possible remedy. Account credit is different from a refund, and a satisfaction policy is not a guarantee that a prediction will happen.
The FTC’s online-shopping guidance advises checking total costs and advertised deal terms and keeping purchase records. Save your receipt, the agreed scope and relevant messages so you can explain a problem clearly.
Choose a budget you can feel at ease with afterward
A reading can be a meaningful part of your spiritual life while remaining an optional purchase. Choose an amount after ordinary commitments, and give yourself permission to wait or use a no-cost reflective practice instead.
Set a limit for a period as well as for one session. Four US$30 readings total US$120. Before booking again, ask what has changed and what you want to explore next. You do not have to keep purchasing until a reader gives the answer you hoped for.
Be cautious if an interpretation turns into pressure to buy an urgent cure, remove a threat or pay to prevent a predicted event. You can stop. A reading should not replace appropriate medical, mental-health, legal or financial support, or another person’s own words and choices.
Afterward, consider whether the reader delivered the agreed service, respected your limit and offered ideas worth reflecting on. Keep both useful insights and things that did not fit in your notes. Our guide to whether readings are worth the money offers questions for that review.
Frequently asked questions about psychic reading costs
1. How much should I budget for a first psychic reading?
Choose an amount you can comfortably spend on an optional experience, then match the format and duration to it. As an arithmetic example, 10 billed minutes at US$3 per minute costs US$30 before any separate charges. That is a planning example, not a recommended budget for everyone.
2. What is the average price of a psychic reading?
The examples here do not establish a market average. A selected introductory rate, an individual reader’s regular rate and a fixed written-reading fee describe different purchases. Compare the actual service available to you rather than treating one headline price as typical.
3. Does a more expensive psychic offer a better connection?
A reader’s approach may feel more or less helpful to you, but price alone cannot establish a spiritual connection or psychic accuracy. Look for a relevant specialty, a communication style you like, clear terms and respectful boundaries.
4. How do I calculate a per-minute reading bill?
Multiply the applicable rate by billed minutes, then add only charges not already included in that rate. If an introductory rate changes during the reading, calculate each paid segment separately. Confirm billing increments and when the timer starts.
5. Should I add Keen’s platform fee to the displayed minute rate?
Keen’s Call Details guidance says the listing price includes its per-minute platform fee. Do not add the same included fee again. Verify the rate shown for your account and any genuinely separate charges before connecting.
6. Can free minutes still require a purchase?
Yes. A free-minute offer may require an eligible first purchase or other conditions. For example, California Psychics’ pricing page displayed15 free minutes with a five-minute purchase requirement when checked on 15 October 2026. Read the offer available to your account.
7. Is a low introductory rate the rate for every future reading?
Do not assume that. Check eligibility, which readers and formats qualify, how long the offer lasts and the rate afterward. Separate promotions should not be combined unless their terms explicitly allow it.
8. Is money added to an account the same as money spent on a reading?
Not necessarily. A top-up may leave an unused balance after the reading. Track both the amount charged to your payment method and the amount the session uses; check expiry and refund rules for any remaining credit.
9. What should a fixed-price email reading include?
Confirm how many questions or topics are covered, when the response will arrive and whether a clarification is included. A fixed fee does not by itself tell you how detailed the response will be or include a live conversation.
10. Is typing time free during a live psychic chat?
Do not assume so. Ask when paid time begins, whether it continues while either person types and how pauses or disconnections are billed. Reading a message asynchronously can be a different service from live chat.
11. How can I set a time limit from my spending limit?
Subtract any separate charges from your spending limit, then divide the remainder by the applicable minute rate. Follow the provider’s billing increment, round your planned duration down where needed and leave room for a closing question. A personal timer is a reminder, not a guaranteed billing cutoff.
12. Should I buy a bigger package to get the best deal?
Only if you genuinely want the included service and can comfortably afford the full purchase. A lower unit price does not help if you buy minutes you will not use. Check expiry, reader restrictions and the treatment of unused credit.
13. Does ending a reading early mean I receive a refund?
No automatic refund follows from ending early. The provider’s billing, cancellation and satisfaction terms determine what process applies. Keep your receipt and contact support promptly if the service or charge differs from what was agreed.
14. How should I budget for repeat readings?
Set a total for a period as well as a limit for one session. Four US$30 readings use US$120. Before another appointment, ask what has changed and what new question you want to explore, rather than paying repeatedly for the same reassurance.
15. What if I am asked to pay more to prevent something bad happening?
You can decline and end the conversation. A frightening prediction does not create an obligation to buy another service. Save the messages or charges and raise the concern with the provider; spiritual guidance should leave your choices your own.
The clearest price is a complete one. Know what you are buying, what it will cost and where you will stop. You can approach a reading with curiosity while keeping the spending decision comfortably your own.
